Toronto, April 5, 2021 – The association for the promotion of academic success “APRORESCO Education” has received a grant in the amount of $49,800 as part of the “Resilient Communities Fund.” This grant was awarded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to enable the association, faced with the effects of the health crisis, to continue to offer free academic support to students, most of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The funds also aim to increase the capacity of APRORESCO Education to welcome more young people during academic support sessions.
MPP Vincent Ke, Don Valley North, says, “The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges for students and families. I am thrilled to hear that APRORESCO Education has received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund. It is essential that Franco-Ontarians in Don Valley North and across Ontario have the supports they need to succeed through meaningful, relevant and accessible online learning resources. APRORESCO Education is leading by example in demonstrating the importance of resilient communities to inspire resilience in others. This organization provides an excellent service to the community and I know that many
Franco-Ontarian students and their families will continue to benefit from their essential support.”
To continue to virtually support students in their learning, the grant allowed APRORESCO Education to build a website dedicated solely to academic support, to create a platform that includes a web application that allows the management of virtual tutoring and two mobile applications for registering students, teachers and volunteers.

“The Ontario Trillium Foundation grant was a significant support for the association’s school support project,” said Pascal Fenkam, President of the APRORESCO Education association. “With this grant, the association was able to resume school support, which had been significantly affected by the pandemic. It helped support young people’s learning, but also continued to offer this valuable assistance to Francophone families who were benefiting from it in person before the pandemic.”

With the essential mission of promoting the values of education within the Franco-Ontarian community, the APRORESCO Éducation association also raises awareness among parents about their role in education, participates in strengthening the professional capacities of education students through training workshops and networking sessions. It contributes to the implementation of various humanitarian and social projects.
